Chapter 56: of Moon Cakes and Friendship..

Monday, September 11, 2017

Assalammualaikum..

"Jehsee, Kuan Low, Kit Yee..  Please bring me moon cakes for me tomorrow..They were too pricey but I really want one.. "
They were stunned to my request and tried to re-confirmed it..

"You want moon cakes..? You have tried it meh..?"
"I've tried once, my sister brought it back from her office before.."
They were stunned with my request and Jehsee immediately grabbed a paper bag.. She took out a moon cake from it, and checked if she had the halal ones and she gave out one to me..
"You're lucky I had the halal one.. "
She said while smiling and right before the class ended, she gave out another one to me, giving me two in total..
"Okay I dah bagi.. Tinggal Kuan Low and Kit Yee je belum bagi kat you.."
Said Jehsee while laughing.. The next day, it was another day of accounting class and as we're having some recess, Kuan Low and Kit Yee approached me, handing me a tupperware containing two different cakes..

"I boleh bagi ni je kat you.. No worries it's halal.."
 "What are these..?"

 I asked out of curiosity..
"This one is Mochi and the other one is something like a kaya puff.."
Few days later, they approached me once again during recess hour, handing me a transparent tupperware containing traditional chinese cookies made of green beans.. Knowing how concerned they were about the halal status, I had no doubt in them and tried one.. I was enjoying it when the lecturer, whom was also a chinese, walking into the class and he was stunned looking at me enjoying chinese cakes..
"You want some..?"
He smiled and shook his head, proceeding to the front to continue the lesson..

I was shopping for a little stuff at Tesco and as I was stopping by at the bakery section, trying to choose either Gardenia or Massimo bread for my future breakfast, my eyes was caught by a chilling fridge, filled with hundreds of colorful moon cakes.. That's when I realized that the Mid-Autumn Festival is just around the corner and to be honest, this would be the moment where I missed my CAT ( Certified Accounting Technician) friends the most...

It was a short period of friendship and they might not be around anymore due to the different paths that we had chosen, but to be honest, they taught me how pure a friendship could be, despite of the different race and beliefs that we're holding to.. And since then, each time I saw the moon cakes at the store, I would wish they're still around with me.. Well, at least there's something that reminds me of them.. Right..?

    1. Maybe you could get it from the local halal bakery or somewhere like Tesco..? My mom said moon cake mmg sepatutnya halal to remain the freshness or else something bad will happen to the cake..
